Meet Harriet Tubman – Civil War
Nurse and spy for the Union during the Civil War, Harriet Tubman also led troops. Like Deborah Sampson, Harriet Tubman fought for decades to be paid for her service, but while Sampson ultimately won her military pension, the government never gave Tubman one.
