What to expect: Twins and Life Lessons
In the first book in a new early reader series, Mia and Anthony and the Hidden Treasures: A Big, Brave Heart, a father provides his energetic twins, Mia and Anthony, with the insight to understand what it truly means to be brave.
It’s dress-up day at school and Mia and Anthony have decided to go as superheroes: The Terrific Twins. When they share with their dad that they aren’t ‘real’ superheroes because they are not super brave, strong, or invisible, he shares some wisdom: “Being brave isn’t about how you feel. It’s about what you do.” He then provides them with a diary and a pencil to journal moments of brave doings. Before
too long, the twins begin noticing that they do exhibit everyday bravery. They discover that a costume is not required to be a superhero; bravery comes from the heart and desire to make the world a better place.
Author Joe Khoury imparts clear, core values in his story and readers ages four through nine are bound to walk away with some newfound knowledge. These little life lessons are enlightening, educational, actionable, and relatable: The twins invite a new boy to sit with them at school and they defend their friend Stella from a pair of mean girls. They also apologize for a wrongdoing and even stand up to an adult at fault. There is a clever round-up of all the life lessons in the final pages and it is sure to inspire readers to write down their own list of daily brave actions.
Mia and Anthony and the Hidden Treasures: A Big, Brave Heart is a good choice for starting thoughtful conversations and for affirming how readers can take positive actions in their own lives to make the world a better place.

About the Author
Joe Khoury writes on important topics: core values that he hopes would inspire, educate, and enlighten his children, step-children, and hopefully others.
In 2019 he found a few precious notes in his mother’s handwriting; Having lost both his parents while so young, he realized that he didn’t really know much about them: what were their likes, dislikes, hopes, fears, and even points of view on certain topics? He decided to begin writing so that his children and even future grandchildren would know the core values and life lessons he wishes them to learn if something were to happen to him.
