Who can go anywhere and everywhere and travel the world in the blink of an eye? Why the wind of course!
A windy day might make some people complain and want to stay indoors, but to animals all around the world, the wind brings life-giving rain, the scent of prey or herd members, and even a way to get around. In I Am the Wind, readers will follow the wind as it journeys around the world, meeting fascinating creatures and seeing exciting, wild places.
This beautiful picture book is a wonderful exploration of the natural world. Not settling for introducing young readers to the usual species (elephants, tigers, polar bears, etc.) and non-specific groupings (monkeys, deer, etc.), this volume features less well-known faces, such as wolverines, petrels, and olinguitos.
Sophie Diao’s vibrant illustrations burst with color and movement, bringing these natural scenes to life in lovely detail. The volume is supplemented by a map, showing the wind’s route so that readers can trace the global journey for themselves, as well as facts about each of the animals featured in the book and a bibliography of sources for further reading.
For readers who love nature and the outdoors, I Am the Wind is sure to be a hit.
