What to Expect: Love, family, bad smells, and humor.
Many children find sensory differences, such as personal smells, challenging. In this humorous picture book, readers are encouraged to remember that strange smells are not about who you are but what you do.
Everyone loves Pop-Pop, but he sure has a knack for smelly, stinky adventures! When Pop-Pop goes outside, he accidentally sits in wet paint, steps into a dog mess, or meets a skunk. Sometimes, he goes jogging and smells sweaty, or he chooses snacks that make him smell of onions or garlic. When he goes fishing, he smells of fish; when Pop-Pop gardens, he smells like muscle ointment. Sometimes, he even picks up bad smells by helping change the baby’s diaper or forgetting to brush his teeth! However, everyone loves Pop-Pop anyway—because he wouldn’t be Pop-Pop if he didn’t have smelly adventures!
The grandfather the story centers around is a loveable character whose dedication to spending time with his family is clear on every page. Funny digital illustrations invite readers to laugh at Pop-Pop’s smelly adventures, recognize his endearing characteristics, and maybe apply them to people in their own lives. Pop-Pop Smells Funny But We Love Him Anyway is a loveable, laughable picture book about love, family, and acceptance. It will delight young readers with a keen sense of humor and an appreciation for the quirky characters in their lives.
