What to Expect: Brothers, adventure, working together, sibling rivalry, and imagination.
Readers will learn the importance of sticking together as siblings in this story about brotherly rivalry and love.
Sheldon is determined to be an explorer, which means completing an important quest: finding the Golden Acorn. Unfortunately, while he is packing his snacks and his sword, his annoying little brother Milo spots him and wants to come, too. Sheldon doesn’t want Milo’s company on his adventure—Milo is annoying, and proper adventurers complete questions on their own! But when Sheldon runs into trouble in the woods, he starts to wonder if “alone” was really such a good idea. Luckily, Milo is not far behind, armed with a powerful weapon—a sword of brotherhood given to him by a magical woodland fairy—and ready to save the day.
Any reader with a sibling will surely empathize with one of the main characters, whether Sheldon and his desire for some space or Milo and his determination to be included. The cheerful digital artwork emphasizes facial expressions and movement, helping to carry the story along and marry the imaginative and real-world elements together. Simple vocabulary and short sentences make this perfect for beginner readers, and discussion prompts and a maze activity at the end of the book help keep readers engaged after reading is finished.
Sticking Together is a fun story for teaching children about sibling relationships.

About the Author
Writing under a pen name, children’s book author Sami Ke didn’t have to look far for creative inspiration for her stories. Her new picture book series, The Courageous Forrest Brothers, is a collection about sibling love, rivalry, and everyday adventures based on her firsthand experiences with her two young sons and their relationship.
Sami’s goal with her stories is to provide opportunities for parents and children to dialogue about challenges that arise when encountering sibling rivalry or social-emotional learning dilemmas and use her books as tools to face each situation. She hopes her young readers and their families come away from her stories with a positive experience and life skills that stay with them long after the book is closed.
Sami was educated in Hawaii for five years and recently took a break from her regular career to spend more time with her family and explore her passion for writing fiction. She lives in Hong Kong, where she is currently studying for a Child Psychology certification. The Courageous Forrest Brothers is her publishing debut.
