A Soccer (or Football) Sleepover in Brazil is part of the Global Sleepover series of interactive storybooks that aim to introduce young readers to different countries and cultures. In this storybook, readers are transported to Brazil, to learn about the country through photos, fun facts, music, games and a heartwarming story about three boys that share a love of soccer.
Noah and Clive are soccer fanatics. They can play anytime, day or night. Together, they decide to travel to Brazil, the site of the 2014 World Cup soccer tournament. They are warmly welcomed to the country—the storybook includes photos, samples of samba music and colorful illustrations of what the boys are encountering. After a game, they meet Fernão, a Brazilian boy who poses an interesting riddle. If Clive and Noah solve the riddle, they’ll get to play in Fernão’s Community Cup game that night. The boys wrack their brains trying to decipher the riddle but they are stumped. They decide to try and play with Fernão anyway. And in joining Fernão, they find the answer to the riddle while making a lot of new friends in the process.
A Soccer (or Football) Sleepover in Brazil is available in Spanish and readers can download an interactive soccer game that can be played in conjunction with the story. This fun and interactive storybook is well suited to readers up to age 7. Readers have the option to read on their own or have the book narrated. Interesting facts are spread throughout the story along with snippets of songs and drag-and-click games.

About the Author
Geeta Raj brings an 11-year career in international development and humanitarian assistance to The Global Sleepover series, including over 8 years as a Senior Program Analyst with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). Geeta’s experiences working and living in Afghanistan, South Sudan, Colombia, the U.K., Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina influence her work on The Global Sleepover. She is a two-time recipient of the Washington, DC Commission on the Arts Folk and Traditional Arts Grant and speaks Hindi, French and basic Spanish and Serbian. Geeta holds a BA in Creative Writing from University of Houston and a MA in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University in Washington, DC.
