Colleen Houck | The Children’s Book Review | August 9, 2016
My goodreads goal this year is to read 100 books. I’m actually a little ahead of the game right now. So here are five YA books on my TBR list that I haven’t gotten to yet.
A World Without You
Written by Beth Revis
I’ve read all of Beth’s books and not only is she a great friend, but she’s a wonderful writer. Her take on sci-fi is really cool and this one about time travel and superpowers intrigues me.

The Countdown
Written by Kimberly Derting
I’ve had the pleasure of doing many events with Kimberly. She’s so cool to hang out with and I absolutely loved her Body Finder series! This series is all about aliens and not only do I have them all in hardback but I have them on audio too since my nephews came after my hardbacks and I’m not sure I’m going to get them back.

The Star-Touched Queen
Written by Roshani Chokshi
I haven’t met this author yet but I’m really excited to. With ancient mysteries and otherworldly realms this one fascinates me. There are a lot of elements in it that are similar to the Tiger series so I’m really looking forward to reading this one.
Ages 14+ | Publisher: St. Martin’s Griffin | 2016 | ISBN-13: 978-1250085474
A Torch Against the Night
Written by Sabaa Tahir
I loved An Ember in the Ashes so I’m really looking forward to this sequel. Sabba is a terrific world builder and I really felt the danger and the atmosphere reading this book. Can’t wait to get my hands on this one!
Ages 14+ | Publisher: Razorbill | August 30, 2016 | ISBN-13: 978-1101998878
Rebel of the Sands
Written by Alwyn Hamilton
Deserts, genies, and mystical beasts are right up my alley and many of those elements are found in the Reawakened series. I really enjoy reading other authors’ take on mythology and fantasy and this one has been on my list for a while.
Ages 12+ | Publisher: Viking Books for Young Readers | 2016 | ISBN-13: 978-0451477538
There you have it! My top five TBR books that I plan on finishing this year!

Recreated
Written by Colleen Houck
Publisher’s Synopsis: From Colleen Houck, New York Times bestselling author of The Tiger’s Curse, comes Recreated, the second book in the epic Egyptian-inspired Reawakened series, in which a seventeen-year-old must literally go to hell to save the love of her life.
Lily Young thought traveling across the globe with a reawakened sun prince was a grand adventure. Now she’s about to embark on the journey of a lifetime.
When Amon and Lily part tragically, he transports himself to the Netherworld—what mortals call hell. Tormented by the loss of his one true love, he’d rather suffer in agony during Lily’s mortal years than fulfill his duty to protect humanity.
Heartbroken, Lily seeks refuge on her grandmother’s farm. Yet she can feel Amon’s pain, and she has been having dreams—dreams of Amon continually suffering.
For before he departed, Amon gave Lily something very special, an item that connects them even though they are worlds apart. Now Lily must use this object to free him, and to free their realms from darkness and utter chaos. She will do whatever it takes.
