I would love to win this for my granddaughter because at times like this it is important to teach children that people that are from different countries, sometimes don’t look just like us, but that’s what makes us all so beautiful. Cultural sensitivity is at paramount importance now, and we must teach our children to accept people even if they find them different.
Hi Susan,
Thanks for your comment, I couldn’t agree more.
Best wishes,
Shama Perera
I love learning about new cultures and am trying to encourage & pass along that love to my children!
Hi Victoria,
Me too, although getting my kids to sit still and listen for 10 minutes can be a challenge 🙂

My daughter is very into books and I love teaching new cultures. I actually adopt some other cultures holidays and traditions. I think it’s so important to understand where others come from and accept them.

All the best,

Being multi-ethnic, myself and growing up in a military family, we moved many times during my childhood. Learning about new cultures was something I always enjoyed. People, traditions celebrated, food, art, and history knowledge is broadened and gives you a much better understanding about our world we live in. I would love to win this prize for my young niece, so that she can learn to appreciate different cultures and how wonderfully diverse our world is, like I was able to.
Hi Diane,
Wow, your childhood sounds like it was really interesting and adventurous – perhaps you should write a book? Share some stories!
Best wishes,
Shama Perera

Learning about different cultures is very important to me because I live in New Zealand and it’s a very multi cultural country. In our family we have New Zealanders , Samoans, Rarotongans, Canadians, Australians, Americans, Japanese and more. I think children should learn to love all cultures of the world.
Hi Judy,

I believe it’s becoming more and more important to learn about different cultures these days, especially as it seems intolerance and nationalism are on the rise in many Western countries. It’s wonderful to have our children learn about different people from around the world in peaceful, educational, and compassionate ways.
