Cindy Wang’s Selfie with Literary Yarns: Crochet Projects Inspired by Classic Books
I started crocheting six years ago, making lumpy little characters from TV and movies and anonymously dumping them off under the nickname “Geeky Hooker” in public places for strangers to find. Six years later I’ve got a book showing strangers how to make characters from classic literature!
Cindy Wang’s Shelfie
The biggest thing people can learn about me from my bookshelf is that I’ve got a bad habit of excitedly buying books, and then forgetting to read them. But out of the books I HAVE read on my shelf, I love any author who can turn something mundane into a fantastic story, so I’ve got David Sedaris and Anthony Bourdain for that. I also love books that can challenge your way of thinking, so books like Freakonomics and Outliers have always been fun reads to remind me that small unexpected changes in life can have big effects. I’ve got Chuck Palahniuk on my shelf for the darker, twisted stuff, and To Kill a Mockingbird when I need a dose of humanity now and then. I don’t have anything too heavy (literally and figuratively) on my shelf, but I like to think it’s enough to be a good “starter pack” while still making me want to fill it out more.
