What to expect: Mystery, silly animals
Didi Dodo is a future spy. Well, she’s kind of a spy right now. A bit more of a private investigator, really, but either way, she’s ready to solve a mystery with her other bird and animal friends!
It all starts when Koko Dodo, a baker, gets a crazy phone call. The Queen, Koko’s bakery shop assistant and friend, is on the phone. She’s been kidnapped by an unlikely suspect – a human! Koko Dodo and all the other animals know humans aren’t real. Those are just silly stories they tell little animals. But Didi and Koko realized The Queen has in fact been kidnapped (whether or not by a human is not the point) and they have to help get her back.
Off they go to the Humanland amusement park, the likeliest place to find something silly like an animal parading around as a human! Will Didi and her pals discover the kidnapper and rescue The Queen? And are humans…real?
This hilarious book is a fun and exciting read for kiddos who love mysteries and having a good laugh. Didi and her friends are pretty rambunctious, and the Humanland amusement park will provide endless giggles for young readers. The dialog is whip-smart and very catchy, and the illustrations are the perfect blend of private investigator chic and comic-strip fun. Kids will have to guess who the culprit is, and be excitedly flipping pages to find out how the story ends. And with other hilarious adventures in the series, Didi Dodo, Future Detective will become a fast favorite.
Adults will also get into the fun, with the cute asides and fun nods to adult mystery fiction.
Great for early elementary students, Didi Dodo, Future Detective is a hilarious romp!
