Fans of Arwen Elys Dayton’s epic SEEKER series will be glued to their reading chairs with this sweeping finale.
Quin is a Seeker, but what that means has changed over the centuries. Her father and his ilk twisted the name of Seeker, and made them highly trained assassins for hire. Now, with her life firmly in her own control, Quin is doing what Seekers were meant to do – save those in need. But something in the Seeker world has been brewing longer than she’s been alive. In fact, something terrible has been developing for centuries.
This is a wonderfully exciting end to the fabulous SEEKER series. I couldn’t put it down! Quin is still a main focus, but the story has evolved in ways you wouldn’t expect. The Young Dread, Maud, has grown in to a fully-fledged character. Her journey with John is surprising, thrilling and gratifying. John’s character has matured and grown to be something entirely new. I won’t give any spoilers, but I found myself rooting for him and his new path. In fact, John’s journey and character arc is one of the best things about the book! He’s compelling and relatable. Maud’s changes are also fascinating. I so enjoyed every scene she was in.
The lore and history of Dread’s is one of the best parts of the book. I rushed to find out who created the Dread’s and the order of the Seekers because the tension was killing me (and if you love tension and thrills, you know and adore that feeling!). The book contains unexpected twist after twist that make total sense when you read them, but have the complexity needed so that you won’t necessarily see them coming.
As always, Dayton’s writing is top-notch. She has the talent to entertain and delight you through this long and complicated journey. The SEEKER series combines sci-fi and fantasy in a unique and compelling blend that will satisfy readers of both genres. If you haven’t started these books and you’re a fan of GAME OF THRONES, Sarah J. Maas’ THRONE OF GLASS or Lev Grossman’s THE MAGICIANS, this is the series for you.
Highly recommended.
