Lolly is having such a lousy year. This cute little girl can’t wait for the next season to come along. In May she tries to swim in a puddle but ends up with a cold, wrapped in a blanket in bed. In summer while eating a popsicle, Lolly tries to lick the drippings off her arm but the popsicle topples over and falls to the sidewalk. In August, she can’t wait for fall so she jumps into a pile of grass clippings. It isn’t a good idea. In November, while wishing for snow on the ground, Lolly tries sledding down a grassy hill. Another bad idea. Maybe next month will be better. Or maybe Lolly will have to learn to be happy in the present. But there is good news for this charming little adventurer! While out playing in the winter snow she comes home to a house smelling of hot chocolate. She changes into her warmest pajama suit and finds a cozy seat by the fire, in between Mom and Dad.
Drawn in lively watercolor illustrations by Twin Cities based artist Lupi, a member of the International Cartoonists Conspiracy, Lolly Poppet’s Lousy Year is a bright, heartwarming storybook for children 3-8. The 34-page paperback is painted in full color and written in bilingual English and Spanish text. A great read for any parent wishing to expose their child to the Spanish language.
Released on October 6th, 2012, by Seventh Avenue Productions, a Minneapolis-based small publisher, Lolly Poppet’s Lousy Year is Lupi’s first kid’s book. Lupi previously compiled and contributed to Germ Warfare, a comic anthology about germs and their generous human hosts, which features an army of Twin Cities-based cartoonists.
Lolly Poppet’s Lousy Year is available wherever books are sold.
