What to expect: Science, Solar System, Space, Rhyming Text
A zany set of little Martian characters introduces readers to each of the planets in the Solar System in this fun, interplanetary romp from award-winning author Lindsey Craig.
This informational story is written in zippy rhyming text and the little Martians deliver little bursts of cosmic flavor onto the pages in fun speech bubbles. Their communications range from silly banter to scientific facts. The intergalactic illustrations are filled with energetic flare—there is plenty of colorful movement that projects the energy that fills the Solar System.
“Number six is super Saturn.
It has rings like colored glass.
It’s a whopper of a planet,
but it’s mostly fluffy gas.”
Speech Bubbles: “Euwwwww!” “Dude! Was that me?” “PU!”
On the final pages, there are more detailed descriptions, facts, and specifics on each of the planets, the solar system as a whole, as well as a few additional descriptions and images from NASA.
Silly Scientists Take a Peeky at the Solar System makes for a fun STEAM-themed read-aloud—especially when paired with the animated music video version that can be found on YouTube. And the potty humor is sure to elicit a few giggles, too!
