What to expect: Hair, Positive Messages, Imagination
No need for any styling tools here. This story has plenty of lift and bounce! With illustrations so luminous they practically glow, Little Miss Crazy Hair bursts from the pages full of joy with her lustrous, rich-brown curls.
Every morning, Little Miss Crazy Hair discusses how she will wear her hair with her trusty dog companion, Duke. With every new hairstyle—French braid, bun, beaded, ponytail, pigtails, and natural—Little Miss Crazy Hair feels emboldened and ready to take on a new adventure. Her escapades include a royal high tea, a day of ballet, sailing a ship down the River Nile, being a veterinarian, exploring the jungle, flying above the clouds, and then a well-deserved sleep-in on Sunday.
With perky text and colorful word choices, fitting in and self-acceptance are the main positive messages of this uplifting picture book. Seven bees have been included in the illustrations with a seek-and-find effect. The bees are purposefully placed on specific pages so as to provide a starting point for deeper conversations on each of Little Miss Crazy Hair’s days. The seven bees stand for:
- Bee Polite
- Bee Determined
- Bee Brave
- Bee Kind
- Bee Yourself
- Bee Adventurous
- Bee Grateful
If you have a reader on your hands that has an early appreciation for tongue-curling-words that are fun to say, vibrant illustrations, or could do with hearing the positive messages scattered throughout the pages that encourage readers to be whoever they dare to be, The Adventures of Little Miss Crazy Hair: The Girl with Curlwill surely appeal.
