An Adderbolt’s Revolt
Dragonflies have many names including; adderbolts, darning needles, snake doctors, eye snatchers and ear cutters. Myths have long held that they are servants of the Devil that spread his evil whispers and ensnare the souls of men, women and little children everywhere. “The Devil and the Darning Needle” is the first in a series of illustrated fables by author David Scott Lillis. Each features a different artist and focuses on an unusual and un-cuddly creature.
This is the story of Nigel, the largest, strongest and brightest blue dragonfly ever born. He breaks from tradition and chooses not to carry evil whispers to the ears of men. Denying the Devil, however, is never so simple and Nigel’s decision has far reaching consequences for all his kind.
David has always been fond of strange and unusual animals. “I wanted to make readers care about and root for creatures they might otherwise fear or despise.” His stories draw on folklore, myth and legend from around the world. “Myths have a timeless power to teach and enchant. I wanted to bring some of that magic to these stories and am thrilled with how the artists involved have envisioned and depicted the characters.”
Each book will be available in print and on Kindle or any device supporting the Kindle app. Audiobook versions will be released beginning in the summer of 2012.
