The eighth book in the successful Math Kids middle-school series, An Artificial Test, takes readers to the next level of math adventure by introducing machine learning and its real-world applications for criminal investigation.
Fifth grade was an exhausting school year for the Math kids—what with burglars, lost gold, kidnappers, and the launching of Justin and Catherine’s dads’ new company, G-Knot; the Math Kids have been working hard for months. Now they’re on their way to London for the demonstration of G-Knot’s prototype software, and this holiday will be anything but relaxing. From exploring and sightseeing, they quickly get drawn into adventure again when a mysterious online message board entangles them in a terrorism investigation. If they don’t want their vacation cut short, they will need their most advanced math skills yet!
As always in this series, the story is fast-paced and exciting, combining intrigue and mystery with all the relationships and emotional drama that come with middle-school friendships. Readers will stretch their skills with real math puzzles embedded in the narrative while the characters model problem-solving, growth mindset, and emotional intelligence for them. The story also weaves in the history and culture of London, providing yet another educational facet.
The Math Kids: An Artificial Test is another excellent story from this multifaceted series.
